Jephtha Lodge approved the purchase of this Service Flag and a Scroll with the names of Brothers serving in the Armed Services at the June 8, 1942, Stated Communication. A committee was formed with W:. Dana J. Tuthill (1941) and Junior Warden Albert S. Nussbaum to procure these items. The Flag used has
15 stars. At the time the lodge acquired the flag, there were 32 sons of Brothers in the Armed Services (later 35). The Scroll is now lost, but the Service Flag is currently on display in the Jephtha Masonic Museum.
A service flag or service banner is displayed by family members for those serving in the United States Armed Forces. The flag or banner is officially defined as a white field with a red border, with a blue star for each family member serving in the Armed Forces of the United States during any period of war or hostilities. Masonic Lodges may fly a service flag if one of its members is serving on active duty.
